After some uneven films Wes Anderson triumphed with this stop motion animation film based on Roald Dahl's book. It has a very appealing handmade feel, and avoiding blues and greens, mostly sticking to earth colours, it looks amazing. Anderson keeps the visual style from his previous films, the centered images, and there's also the 70s soundtrack and the son with daddy issues. Not sure how much a kid will get from all this, but it's a great film, and I loved that strange and touching scene towards the end with the wolf.
Tiens celui-ci il est sur ma télé et attend que je le reagarde ! c'est prévu pour ce soir !!
ReplyDeleteDid you know the voice actors performed their recordings live? I think on the DVD special features you can see part of this, Clooney and Schwartzman running around outside with headphones and scripts while a guy holding a boom microphone runs with them. I think that audio quality is another excellent feature of the film, giving a lot more depth and reality to the animation.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think that's part of the charm of the film. At some point during the recording of the voices outside a plane flew by and they incorporated that in the film.
