I prefer "Fables…" to this one, but their early work has a real charm to it. "Wendel Gee" is a great song, one I played a lot myself - at late as last week, actually!
I just realized that this IS "Fables…", and not "Lifes Rich Pageant". I would never have made this mistake 20 years ago when I was a monster R:E:M: fan.
Great track from a great record. I think this is one of REM's truly underrated works.
