I got a signed print from him the first time I went to Angouleme, but there was a long line, and I didn't get the chance to do the I'm a big fan thing. And later I never met him as a fellow cartoonist.
I like this drawing; it makes me want to see more. I've never gotten into Moebius but would like to. I read Arzach and that's about it. (Oh, wait: That, plus two episodes of Young Blueberry.) Thought about buying ‘The Incal’ at my local bookstore, but their copy got a little beat-up and thumb-worn, and Humanoids keeps upgrading it to different editions or something.
I'd be cool if you want to do a whole Airtight Garage tribute comic. I wouldn't freak out or anything.
I'm not really a big fan of The Incal. It's okay, but to me less interesting than his older, personal work. And I miss the crosshatching! His masterpieces are Arzach, Airtight Garage and Le bandard fou (and Les yeux du chat). Oh, and I'm still waiting for the Collected Moebius Sketchbooks.
Curious... did you ever get to meet him?
