Am I a bad person for having been a fan of the movies ‘The World According to Garp’ and ‘The Cider House Rules’ yet never bothering to pick up a single John Irving novel? Do I get credit for recognizing his cameos in these films?
Ha ha, good for you! Well, the rule is: You can't turn a good novel into a good movie. And that definitely goes for Irving's novels. Even Cider House Rules, that Irving himself wrote the script for. To me, it was a big disappointment. So much from the novel missing. And no Melony? C'mon!
