Another page...

from Athos in America, this time from the title story. I killed off Athos in The Last Musketeer, then realized that I liked the character. What to do? Well, I can keep on telling stories about Athos, they just have to take place in the past. Here he's in a bar in New York, around 1919.

  1. Ah, this is looking AMAZING! I cannot wait to read it. I've been catching up on your past work too, and have enjoyed everything I've read more than I can say in this small a comment box! Top drawer!

  2. Ah, mine bønner er blitt hørt! Historien om Athos fortjente vel ikke å dø ut i Den Siste Musketer, så en slags forløper høres lovende ut.

  3. Lovely! I have also being catching up on your old comics--specifically Hey, Wait--I have nearly everything of yours Fanta has put out but for some reason never got round to buying what is considered by "those in the know" to be your best...I DID really enjoy it, it has a real elegiac tone but I have to say that "The Left Bank Gang" and "Why Are You Doing This?" are my favourites. Anyway, I actually posted to ask if you're using a brush again? Looks like it, wonderful quality to the line-work. I love the eponymous story in "Pocket Full of Rain", the one with the nuns, and the Mazzucchelli-like piece. Great stuff. All the best!

  4. Thanks! Yes, I got a bit tired of the thin nib used in the latest albums, so I went back to using a brush on some of the stories in the new book, or I should say a fake brush with an ink cartridge inside. I also did some stories with a lettering nib, that gives a bigger variation in line. One of the reasons I did a new collection of short stories was to try out different styles.
