I prefer his short story collections, personally. Nightmares and Dreamscapes is really good.
The first thing I read by him was Night Shift, those stories were the ones that captured my interest. He can sometimes go on a bit too long in his novels.

Don't know those stories, but I see that one of them, Lunch at the Gotham Cafe, is available on youtube. And I remenber he had a story about quitting smoking in Night Shift.
