New development

Apparently, there's been some development on the film version of I Killed Adolf Hitler. It will be directed by Timo Vuorensola who did Iron Sky. I wish the guy the best of luck. My assistant tells me Steven Spielberg is on the phone so I have to go now. Ciao! Let's have lunch! Have your people call my people!

  1. "Based on the Eisner award-winning Norwegian graphic novel". They never mention you as the creator. Weird.
I'm looking forward for this film :)

  2. I prefer to have low expectations and then maybe to be pleasantly surprised.

  5. I have to confess: I Killed Adolf Hitler is the only comic I've ever read in a bookshop. I leafed through it and simply couldn't stop reading.

When I finished it, I thought it was better than any time travel movie I'd ever seen, with the possible exception of 12 Monkeys/La Jetee.

Obviously, I was not the only one who thought that. I am very excited about this.

Should add quickly that I've bought the book many times afterwards, for rereads and gifts. :)

  6. Thanks, Nadie! If the movie should ever happen, hopefully it, good or bad, will make some new people discover the comic.

  7. Ah, this definitely lowers my expectations. This director's previous work was a campy space nazi movie? Does he just seek out wacky zany nazi stories to direct? I'm sorry if that's how your book is adapted.

I'm a huge fan of your work and have always read the stories like the movies you write about in your blog. You don't even know how much I was blown away that you love Paul Newman movies. I didn't quite understand your style of books until I started to also understand that era of film. Such class. I would hate to see your story end up with this terrible style that is in movies today.

  8. Thanks, Bryan. I haven't seen Iron Sky, so I can't comment on the director, but yes, I assume the film will have the same fast cutting, moving camera, MTV look as most films made today have. But hell, if the movie actually ends up being produced, I'll take the money they give me and at least use some of it to buy more old, classic films in black and white.
