Summer reading

2 comments:

  1. Summer viewing: Triangle of Sadness, Force Majeure, and The Square. (All films by Ruben Östlund!)

Summer reading: Grip by Gilbert Hernandez, Murky World by Richard Corben, Gods in Chaos by Enki Bilal.

I was checking out a little bit of Nick Drake recently (Way to Blue, Pink Moon), but he's an acquired taste for me. Never really heard of him growing up; English folk was not a radio staple. The Robyn Hitchcock song ‘I Saw Nick Drake’ was my closest connection. That and Joe Boyd having produced Fables of the Reconstruction.

    1. That trilogy by Bilal was okay. Haven't read it in years. Or followed his later work. The books he did with Christin was quite good and also, my favourite, Exterminator 17.

Will check out the Hitchcock song. There's also Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy, but even though it's dedicated to Nick Drake it's not really about him.

Big fan of Fables of the Reconstruction! REM apparently have mixed feelings about it, but they shouldn't.
