The Bat-Man

  1. The Cowled Crusader! Toreador of Evil! Terror in Tights!

But look again: This man is innocent. You're looking for another man, in a slightly rounder, less pointed hat—felt, perhaps, or straw, not tweed. He looked a bit like Henry Fonda and carried a large instrument case. You keep looking, Bat-Man. I'll try to set up a Go Fund Me for this man's medical bills. We'll rendezvous at the cave.

  2. I love this drawing, btw. It's got that ‘Jason thing’: The Bat-Man is totally deadpan and righteous, while his victim (the villain?) is getting the life choked out of him. Despite, or because of, the simplicity, it's both funny and intense.

Also: Am I nuts, or is the cape lit from below, while everything else is lit from above? Then again, it's night, so the light would be from below…

    1. Thanks! I didn't think much about the light source in the image , just copying the original cover. But I think the light comes from above, no? At least the cape...

    2. Huh! I see the segments of Batman's cape billowing inward, catching light from below, but perhaps the cape's spiky contour is playing tricks on my eyes. This might be a variation on the classic, optical ‘double entendre’: Where I see the Batman swooping in, others might see an old woman's face or a young woman turning away.

  3. I would love to see you do an entire Bat-Man story some day!
