RIP, John Romita Sr

  1. Great artist, obviously! Definitely near the top for me, somewhere below Kirby. In fact, I like how he fixed some of Kirby's ’70s Captain America covers, creating a fusion of the two styles. I pretty much assume he wrote the Spider-Man comics he drew following Ditko's departure.

His last words? I like to think it wasn't ‘Rosebud’, but ‘Fury of the Femizons’.

It's great that he lived so long. You hear about his reticence to join Marvel Comics in its early boom because of the turbulent financial downturns of past eras. But it must have worked out well enough for him in the end. He definitely left a mark in the culture.

    1. To live to that age and also leave a great legacy behind, you can't complain. Plus. his son is a good cartoonist as well.
