  1. Oowee! There's a back cover too. I'm sensing a theme.

    1. There's a connection to the title in English.

This was only my colour suggestion, btw. It ended up a bit different.

  2. I like those colors! (On second glance, I do see a blank spot under her skirt.)

I liked the front cover, too. It brought to mind ‘You Are Here’ from Low Moon. The original artwork has such strong blacks, I almost prefer it uncolored.

Your earlier paperback novellas by Fantagraphics had a real minimalist color concept; I thought it worked well for the most part. But by The Last Musketeer, the way it was being applied worked against showcasing the characters. (The second printing improved on that.) This came to mind as I was looking at the front cover in its colored form, and I noticed the red mountains in back were brighter than the darker red foreground—whereas, usually, objects in the distance would be darker or less distinct.

However, I don't pretend to know all the decisions that go into successfully coloring artwork!

I was sad to read during the pandemic that Hubert passed; it was nice to see you dedicating Good Night, Hem to him.

    1. Yes, I forgot one spot of background colour in my suggestion. The proper colourizing of the back cover was done by Atrabile.

I totally agree that the second printing of Last Musketeer, with some added colours, the cover worked better. The Werewolves of Montpellier cover was also not quite right. If / when it is reprinted, I'd like to add some colours there as well.
