So, yes, my comic book I Killed Adolf Hitler has been optioned for a movie. However, there is still a long way to a finished film and there are a lot of things that can go wrong. If I one day should sit there in the cinema with the ticketstub in my hand, hopefully the film won't look too much like a MTV rock video. Actually, the best thing would probably be if they could travel back in time and film it in the seventies.
Exciting news--congratulations! Would it be live action or animated? Or is that yet to be determined?
ReplyDeleteNice News! "I killed Adolf Hitler" is one of my favorite books!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for all your work!
it'd be awesome if it was animated. like the way they did persepolis.
ReplyDeletealso, good luck with the movie! hope to see it sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I don't know, but I assume they're going for live action.
ReplyDeleteI think going live action would be a missed opportunity to do a really unique animated film. The book, and really all your books, would be great animated. And anyway, it would be weird seeing actors portray those characters.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I was just watching Midnight in Paris and thinking what a great movie the West Bank Gang would make.
ReplyDeleteYours is one of those cases in which comics is not just one way of telling a story; it's part of the idea.
ReplyDeleteLive action may be a good thing, so that it does not compete with the book.
Anyway, we all want to see your characters moving :)
Congratulations! This is one of the few of your books that I haven't read; now I'll just wait for the DVD ;)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Jason! I hope that the movie version does your work justice. While live action sounds intriguing, I think traditional hand-drawn animation is the way to go. Whichever they choose, I wish you the best of luck with this project!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Will it be a regular og an animated movie? Will it be full length? Where will it be made? So many questions... Hopefully, you can share more details when you are allowed to. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite books of yours, with 'Hey, Wait' being the other.
ReplyDeleteAnd your title for this post, 'I optioned Adolph Hitler', should be optioned as well! That line is hilarious!
